In July, low-season fares will be in effect on local buses in Lappeenranta.
All of July, regardless of the time of day, the single fare is € 1.50 for young people (aged 7–16) and € 2.50 for adults. The standard fares are € 2.00 for young people (aged 7–16) and € 3.20 for adults. With a value ticket, in July, adults pay only € 1.90, senior citizens (65+) and students pay € 1.25, and young people pay € 1.10. July’s low-season fares are in effect on the central district bus lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 10, and on the local transport area’s service transport buses (P 1, 2, 3 and 4).
In addition to July, low-season fares are also in effect on Lappeenranta’s local public transport buses, year round on weekdays after 17.30, and all day during weekends and public holidays.
The low season fares in July campaign was implemented for the second time last summer (2015). During the campaign, 15.9% more trips were made compared to July 2013, when normal fares were still valid.
The City has facilitated the travelling of families with children and groups from day-care centres by allowing children under 7 years of age accompanied by an adult to travel free on local public transport. If an adult is travelling with an infant who is in a pram or a pushchair, no fare will be charged from the adult either. Therefore, families and guided groups of children pay less to take the bus to visit, for example, the children’s traffic park located near the water tower.
Bus tickets for local public transport include the right to transfer to another bus within one hour from the start of the trip.
With the low-season fares and the July campaign, the city is promoting bus use also outside of peak hours. This will also help establish the Green Lappeenranta brand.
