Kekäle was established in Joensuu in 1957 by Maire and Veikko Kekäle. The clothing store has since spread to eleven locations, including Lappeenranta. The Lappeenranta branch was opened more than 40 years ago. Kekäle is a family business that is already being run by its third generation of owners.

As a Greenreality partner, the Lappeenranta branch of Kekäle has already made a lot of energy-saving changes, but is still focusing on the last few things on its to-do list. Kekäle has been paying particular attention to water consumption this year. This has been achieved by, for example, drawing up a water-use plan with the maintenance company in 2020. If local procurement contracts are being used, ecological perspectives are also considered whenever possible.
