Sisustus Fuksia is a green interior design company based in South-Karelia, specializing in supplying and maintaining customers indoor plants.
“Green plants bring comfort to the working environment and are the easiest way to improve the air quality indoors. The positively impact our well-being in many ways – they calm and balance the mind. The ability of indoor plants to increase air humidity reduces the risk of cold viruses attaching to mucous membranes, so they can also be seen as a way to reduce sick leaves. Investing in green plants is an investment in well-being,” says Lilli Huurrekorpi from Sisustus Fuksia.
“We plant greenery in lava rock granules, an ecological and safe growing medium. Lava rock granule doesn’t attract pests and compress like normal soil, so the roots always air. When roots feel well, so does the plant. Additionally, the lava rock can be reused. From the beginning, the idea has been to utilize customers existing plants whenever possible – not all needs to be replaced.”
Through the Greenreality partnership, Sisustus Fuksia is committed to more precise waste sorting. Customers are informed about the possibility of choosing pots made from recycled materials, and the plants are only ordered for customers actual needs. The company is also shifting to use partly bio-based fuels (MyDiesel). Moving forward, even greater emphasis on preventing waste and its management is placed in Sisustus Fuksia. Used pots and plants have also been donated, for example, to nursing homes.
In pest control, natural methods can be used instead of chemicals. Sisustus Fuksia has used ladybugs and predatory mites as biological control agents to reduce the chemical load. The company’s premises are energy-efficient, with good insulation and a geothermal heat pump helping to reduce emissions from energy consumption.
