Öljypuu Oy was established by chef Ilkka Tihveräinen in 1989. The company began by importing high-quality Greek olive oil, before later focusing on the preparation of salad dressings and garlic marinades. Öljypuu also makes new products from Finnish berries, vegetables and mushrooms. As a Greenreality partner, Öljypuu intends to install solar panels on its property to generate more environmentally friendly electricity. The company is aiming to increase the proportion of renewable electricity that it uses to about 40–60 per cent of total consumption. Öljypuu will also increase the amount of renewable materials used in its packaging. Waste sorting and recycling has formed a natural part of Öljypuu’s business for over 20 years.
